Today is Joan's birthday and we are going to celebrate! Dress up in your MOST stylish ensemble! Throw on way too many bangle bracelets. Make sure you've got enough in your pocket to buy pretty things! And, if you're feeling like it, wrap up something you've loved and no longer need. We're gonna have a Gift Swap! And we're gonna drink some beer flavored beer in Joan's honor. There will be pretzels and cheese and possibly other nibbly bits.

In all seriousness, don't feel obligated to do any of the above (or even show up) but I really just wanted to commemorate the day. If only a few people dress up, that's fine. If only four of you want to do the gift swap, that's cool too. I would simply love your company as I remember my mom.
